Here are a few terms and phrases I'm coming to negatively associate with my current housing search.

• cozy (tiny)
• charming (run-down)
• old world charm (extremely charming)
• non-refundable deposit (fee)
• storage closet (all storage must fit in one small closet)
• everyone in the house is... (there are too many of us to count)
• clean (no positive adjectives aside from initial state)
• great for students or young professionals (intended for poor saps)
• chill (you will be expected to share pot stash)
• roomate (marsupial spouse)

The worst back-handed compliment is also one of the most common: "Laundry facility on-site". Like they expect points for offering coin-op laundry in one's own building.

Here are some euphemisms to take honorable mention:

• "Smoker friendly would be good too"
• "More space than most humans get to themselves."
• "My old roomate went off to Afganistan (sic)."
