Here are a few terms and phrases I'm coming to negatively associate with my current housing search.
- cozy (tiny)
- charming (run-down)
- old world charm (extremely charming)
- non-refundable deposit (fee)
- storage closet (all storage must fit in one small closet)
- everyone in the house is... (there are too many of us to count)
- clean (no positive adjectives aside from initial state)
- great for students or young professionals (intended for poor saps)
- chill (you will be expected to share pot stash)
- roomate (marsupial spouse)
The worst back-handed compliment is also one of the most common: "Laundry facility on-site". Like they expect points for offering coin-op laundry in one's own building.
Here are some euphemisms to take honorable mention:
- "Smoker friendly would be good too"
- "More space than most humans get to themselves."
- "My old roomate went off to Afganistan (sic)."
Moving completely sucks.
