I doubt the original person who wrote my little one liner really 
cared about the timezone (in any case, the system("date") was the 
least cause of my amusement ;).

Of course, the only reason `date` knows the timezone either is that 
someone has specifically set the timezone on the given machine... (I 
wish I _could_ get a trustworthy/portable timezone for Perl...)
