i think alt.perl.flame would be a better name. anyone know how to create
such a group and have it self moderated like a.s.r? i know how to post
into that group and can tell others how to. no newbie will ever be able
to figure it out as it requires reading stuff.

agree. we can offload some of the flames from misc to that group. and
have a place to vent about bad perl code, dumb newbie questions, other
languages, etc.

i notice that a.s.r tends to use perl as a metalanguage. they use $VBC
and such as well as s/// sprinkled throughout their posts.
