I can't help it, I have to say this... I simply won't use a module which does things like set $| = -1. Can you predict what else it will be perpetrating? How about a module which silently checks for $main::foo and ties it to a porno spammer? Defense against bizarre modules is not an argument, because there is obviously no universal defense. Since you can read modules, you at least ought to give them the once-over and be reasonably sure nothing nasty is happening.
