Don't get what?  Don't get the concept that "because people are smart, the
presentation of their ideas is irrelvant"?  You're right: I don't get
that.

Your parallel to Botticelli doesn't hold, because Botticelli handed off a
finished product.  "Look, here's a painting".  It stood on its
own.  Botticelli could be a world-class jerk and it didn't affect the
quality of his painting.

Perl is another matter entirely.

Perl is more than latest.tar.gz; it's everything that surrounds it.  "The
Idiot's Guide To CGI problems", with its unnecessarily insulting approach
to anyone who doesn't happen to be tchrist himself, is a blemish on
Perl-as-a-whole.  Technically it's brilliant, sure, but if no one wants to
read it, what's the point?

The revolution which we're going through is not about computers.  It's
about communication between human beings.  Unfortunately, it seems that so
many of the people who drive this revolution really don't care about other
human beings.
