Two things I found amusing (that noone else has mentioned): 1) The great sin he accuses Perl programmers of is actually not being lazy enough. Given the vast hordes of people working with Perl who apparently never read the Camel book, he may have a point. 2) He says it's impossible to program robustly with Perl, but one of the reasons I love the language is it makes robustness so easy to achieve! Put || die on everything, validate all input, tighten your character classes, and you're 99% of the way there. I see it as being like C in that all its flaws are right out there in the open where anyone can see them and (if they are so inclined) avoid them. Apart, alas, from the magic <> thing.
