highly amusing and not inefficient it would seem. i never seem to think
about using \G. i should when i see repeated patterns.

this is a cool golf problem as it is real world, and offer many avenues
to explore. it would be interesting and educational to chart all the
paths this one problem has travelled. can anyone put together such a
list of solutions from longer to short and organized by theme? it could
be the basis for an interesting article or paper somewhere.
