  I have a package for copying and comparing refs, if you like. Doc goes as :

$copied = copy_ref $what
$copied = copy_ref $what, %except
       Duplicates $what. Scalars, code and globs are copied
       verbatim. In refs to arrays and hashes, all elements and
       values are copied recursively by copy_ref().

       Blessed objects may provide a copy() method (see below).
