I used to do it the other way, I'd give interviewees a function
and ask what it did. Here's the function:

sub xxx { eval join '*', 1 .. shift }

Few people got it, but then few people would get my previous question,
which was "delete the last blank from a string". (A lot of people
*claimed* Perl knowledge...)
