You'd think that.

X10 is a low bandwidth network protocol which runs over household
electrical wiring.  Lets you network and control all sorts of unlikely
things around the house (lights, fishtanks, TVs, garage doors)
cheaply.

Been around for quite a while.  I remember there being a program for
the C64 that let you control your house.  Only recently has it gotten
really popular and cheap.
