Um, yes. I spoke poorly. You're right.

What I was trying to express is (second try:) that if the message gets to
you because someone wrote To: a mailing list or CC:ed it, then the mailing
list address will be in that header and will not be replaced by your own.
Hope that's a little bit clearer.
