Everyone thought it was because strings are 0 in numeric context, but then I showed that "infoworld" != "bobby". Hah, they fell for it! At least, on my (linux) platform with 5.6.1 and 5.6.0 these things are true. However, on Cygwin with 5.6.1 "infoworld" == "bobby" because "inf" is not special there. Pity this is not more portable, it's very convenient when illustrating sorting algorithms. ira ==== Want to unsubscribe from Fun With Perl?
