[MacPerl-AnyPerl] Perl and PHP

Is there any pointers comparing Perl and PHP to do CGIs with a
backend database.

PHP is getting very popular and I'd like to understand why. Beside
that you can easily embed PHP script in a web page (but I think you
can do this with Perl with IIS and maybe Apache), what are the
advantages/disadvantages of PHP over Perl.

If you know already Perl, is there any advantages to use PHP instead
of Perl? Is PHP more efficient at CGIs than Perl?

TIA
