One simple question, not really about Perl: I'm trying a little hack of Pod::HTML to make its processing of pod links (L<name/section>) a bit more sophisticated. (At the moment for instance it doesn't display module names like "File::Spec::Mac" accurately.) Looking at real world examples in the pod files coming with MacPerl I noticed that sometimes there is a number in parentheses added to the name of the referenced manpage or module (e.g. "perl(1)" or "DBI(3)"). What do these parentheses actually mean? I guess it's Unixish, but I wonder whether I should simply ignore it while looking for linked pages or whether I could do something else with it?
