David, I vaguely recall some options and haven't checked any (at 3:30 AM, no way)! 1) you can write another perl script to set up your arguments in @ARGV and put your favorite path in $0. 2) you can take a look at the "One Liner" facility (below "Check Syntax" and "Make") as I remember, its pretty much like typing in one line in a UNIX shell (goes through all sorts of contortions to get the argument list through applescript to the perl interpreter) 3) put your script in the right directory and use a command-<number> two finger salute to invoke your favorite script. maybe a little window pops up allowing you to enter a command line? not sure.
