Not to nitpick (but since this entire thread is about positive nitpicking) [Pp]erl is _most definitely_ a programming language. The use of the term "scripting" language is vague and indefinite. There is no general agreement on what is and what isn't a scripting language, it's not used consistently, and it's not even a useful concept.
