[MacPerl-Toolbox] Using an existing window with the Quickdraw

Howdy:

   Is there any way to use an existing window with QuickDraw?  I know 
how to create a window using the Toolbox and to get QuickDraw output 
into that window, but I'm wondering:

1) If you create a window using:
    open WINDOW, '>Dev:Console:WindowName';
    ...can you QuickDraw in that?

2) If so, what happens if you:
    print WINDOW "This is a test\n";
    ...?

[I tried the archives, but they were down :-( ]
