Jack: 1) I'm wondering if this belongs on MacPerl-WebCGI, and am cross posting there. 2) In reply to: >I am using an 8600 Powermac with Webstar 3.0 and MacPerl 5.2.0r4 > >I have saved my file from Macperl as cgi-script and have the funny >icon. I Then uploaded the raw file to my server and accessed the >file using the address. >http://www.mangom.com.au/cgi-bin/first.cgi > >Error! Unable to execute the requested CGI >application. The part that is confusing some of us, I think, is your statement "Then uploaded the raw file to my server" This implies that the computer RUNNING the CGI is different than the computer on which you DEVELOP the CGI, which lead some of us to wonder if the server ran UNIX. From your reply, I assume not; that it is a Mac 8600 running Webstar. Still, I wonder: is MacPerl installed [correctly] on that server? The first thing I would try is to save a copy of the CGI on that server as plain text, and then try running it standalone (e.g. by double clicking it; no web involvement.) If that works, the next thing I would check is the configuration of Webstar; make sure it is set up to allow CGIs. A quick way to test that is to try one of the sample CGI's that should have come with Webstar (typically written in AppleTalk). Put one of them in your cgi-bin directory and make sure it works. Finally, you might try posting the CGI script itself, if it is not too long. -David- David Steffen, Ph.D. President, Biomedical Computing, Inc. <http://www.biomedcomp.com/> Phone: (713) 610-9770 FAX: (713) 610-9769 E-mail: steffen@biomedcomp.com ==== Want to unsubscribe from this list? ==== Send mail with body "unsubscribe" to macperl-webcgi-request@macperl.org
