[MacPerl-WebCGI] A server by any other name...

Hi:

Okay, it's my understanding (perhaps misunderstanding) that I can run
and edit cgi scripts using a combination of MacPerl and Quid Pro Quo
such that they will provide a "simulation" of what my server is
doing. In other words, I won't have to jump through the hoops I have
been, which is to: write the script; upload it to my server; set the
permissions; run Netscape; open my test URL; then see if my script
runs -- with very limited error reports I might add; and repeat as
necessary.

So, I downloaded Quid Pro Quo 2.1 and have MacPerl 5.2.0r4 -- now I
need to put it all together.

When I run Quid Pro Quo and two screens come up (after it dials up my
ISP and logs on). One screen is the Quid Pro Quo Activity Log and the
other is the Quid Pro Quo Status.

The Quid Pro Quo Activity Log states:

Configuration:
     Using IP Address: Default
     Resolved domain name: mdm133.ia4u.net
     Port: 80
The Quid Pro Quo image map handler is up and running.
The Quid Pro Quo directory indexer is up and running.
The Quid Pro Quo BinHex plug-in is up and running.
The Quid Pro Quo MacBinary plug-in is up and running.
The Quid Pro Quo PowerKey plug-in could not find an attached PowerKey.
The Quid Pro Quo counter plug-in is up and running.
Quid Pro Quo 2.1 is up and running.

The Quid Pro Quo Status shows nothing.

Okay, so now what? I was expecting a command line or something that
would allow me to list directories and other stuff. Instead, I and it
just sit looking at each other -- each expecting the other to be
smarter. I'm feeling rather dumb at the moment.
