[MacPerl] Please send me your Perl4 to Perl5 differences

Greetings,

I'm going to compile a list of things that act, or even seem to
act differently, or break, in perl5, that worked OK for you in perl4.
I dont care whether they are documented anywhere or not. I'd very
much like to have code snippets, but just general thoughts, perceptions,
gripes, or general whines are OK too.

I'll try to compile it to a readable format, and make it
available on CPAN as soon as I get things sorted out. Here's
the format I'd prefer, but again, anything you might have time
to whip out is OK too.

#########################################################################

Name: Your name here (or the person who sent it to you)
Arch: The architecture on which you run (ran) perl4 and perl5
Version: The version of perl4 you used and the version of perl5 which
displays the problem you've noticed (latest is best, if you've
         made it to 5.002)
Description: A formal description of the difference, as you percieve it.
Be as verbose as you like.
Code Snippet: A (preferably small) code snippet which demonstrates the
difference. Please indent your snippet at least one space
              throughout.

#########################################################################

I've got about a half-dozen of these myself, saved from the folks
who sent them to me at Adobe and Moto. None are formally documented
in perltrap. As the perl5-porters have time, and if you
all participate, I'm sure more of them will be officially documented.
But in general, this will probably be more of a crying towel,
than an official document.

I will try to sort out duplicates and credit all submittors. Please
put the following in the subject line:

Subject: Perl4 to Perl5 difference(s) [optional short keyword summary]

or somewhere in the body, so I can write a handler for the mail.

I honestly believe that such a list will allow all of us to make
the transition easier. This is certainly not intended to slight anyone.

Thanks, I'm looking forward to hearing from you. Comments welcome.

Bill
