I thought "poor man's animation" was using a multi-image GIF 89 file, which savvy browsers (that is: netscape 2.X) are able to animate without relying on a steady stream of frames from the server. If _that's_ what you want, throw the string "animaker" at the Internet search engine of your choice. I believe you may find a copy at <URL:http://www.starnine.com> (home of WebSTAR). Animaker will "assemble" individual frames into a single GIF file, which you can serve normally. Non-savvy browsers will display only the first, or possibly the last frame. Regarding true server-push, I believe that you need MacPerl 5.X, and the most current CGI glue (dated late december '95 or later). Also, I believe that recent glue distributions may include a simple push example... in fact I know this has been discussed before so you may wish to use one of the searchable archives of this list (I believe there is one at <URL:http://www.unimelb.edu.au/~ssilcot/ma/>, which is Sandra Silcot's searchable mail archive. -- matt.
