!WebStar Plug-ins are NOT replacing CGI. This should not affect MacPerl.
!
!On the other hand, I would probably like to see MacPerl as an I/O plug-in

!plug-ins could be come standard on Macs among the differennt brand
!servers. Who seconds?

I'll second it (FWIW). There is a server available for Unix that has a perl
interpreter built in (a suitably modified Apache not the standard Apache). It
allegedly entails a one to two order of magnitude speed up in cgi service
(dependent heavily on the nature of the cgi script in question).

On the client side (a notable security hole in general see
http://www-genome.wi.mit.edu/WWW/faqs/wwwsf7.html for more detail though) see:

  http://www.arc.ab.ca/vr/opengl/plugin.html

Which I believe is running on an SGI machine (If you have X-windows [e.g.
eXodus] then see also: http://www.arc.ab.ca/vr/opengl/examples/ <- this runs
on the server and is no more a security hole than `xhost +` ).
