Nope. It's not working.

Ahh. A 68020. Isn't it possible to mimic a 68020 with some form of
extension to the ROM routines or something? I can't understand how a
chip would impact the running of an application on a Macintosh.

I thought that as long as the Toolbox routines were there that
everything would be OK, but I'm just beginning to learn about the
Macintosh and its nuances.

Right now, I'm running 4.13. MacPerl 4.18 won't run for me either!!
(Plus ... 4Mb RAM ... Sys 7.0+).

Not too much right now. I'm hoping to learn more about what my
Macintosh is all about. Maybe a bit about threaded systems.

I would like to learn more about porting stuff over to the Mac, but
it's not like I have a great development environment here. I don't
have MPW or Codewarrior, or MAE or anything like that, and I don't
know C.

I can connect to a couple of high-powered work stations, (using
MacKermit) but that's about it.

And it seems that most of the stuff (on this list) is geared towards
MPW rather than gcc and emacs and other gnu stuff which I have _some_
access to when our machines are stable.

Not Perl 4.18. And the Perl 5 stuff is probably outta reach. All I
really want is a language where I can begin to reach into my machine,
and start to fix some things, and maybe learn a language that has some
usefulness in a variety of environments ... something I can do stuff
with.

Istvan.
