Hi, Thanks to Paul Schinder & Matthias for pointing out my erroneous observation about Net::SMTP and its memory demands in MacPerl. I bumped MacPerl's partition up to 6MB on the 68k machine and ran the script. Perfect. No problems. So then I did as Paul suggested and stepped through the script, while running Memory Mapper. Sure 'nuff, "use Net::SMTP" grabbed a huge chunk of the partition, immediately. In fact, it grabbed more than the entire, original default partition. 'Guess that explains that knees-bent, crashing behavior <g>. (Now if I can just remember this, the next upgrade...) Matthias said: >Hmm... maybe I should simply put up a dialog and quit on Out of Memory, >given that I don't quite manange to handle recovery correctly? Yes, maybe something like: "Out of Memory! Try increasing MacPerl's memory partition" "Oha LŠtz!" ;^) Thanks again, y'all. tpg -- Tim Guinn | guinn@mail.utexas.edu LAN Administrator | http://www.utexas.edu/admin/purchasing/ UTexas @ Austin Purchasing | v 512.471.2855 f 512.471.7745
