Aha, but Perl scripts in MacPerl do not require the shebang line ...

But actually, I do wish that BBEdit would work that way.  When I open a
MacPerl script TO BBEdit, its name is "script.pl [MacPerl]", which
obviously doesn't work unless you change the preferences.

I'll write to BBEdit and get their thoughts on it.
