[MacPerl] NetPresenz/MacPerl problem

Hello,

I'm a newcomer (i.e., ignoramus) to Perl, and to CGI, and I have a problem
trying to get a CGI MacPERL script to work with the FTP server program
NetPresenz (formerly FTPd).

I am trying to run the index.cgi script that was supplied with NetPresenz.
I have modified it to look for the appropriate folder name when it starts
up, and in fact when I run it under MacPERL (without going through
NetPresenz or any web stuff), the index.cgi script displays correct
output.

The problem is that when I try to run it through the web I get a blank
page returned to me, instead of the HTML that is supposed to be generated
by index.cgi. I get into the Web with Netscape as my web browser, then I
open up a URL such as ftp://ftp.myserver.edu/pub/index.cgi (not the real
URL) which invokes NetPresenz on our FTP server. NetPresenz runs
index.cgi and returns a blank page, with no error messages or any other
indication of malfunction. The NetPresenz log file also indicates that
the file was accessed successfully.

I'm hoping that someone out there who has used NetPresenz in conjunction
with MacPERL cgi scripts will kindly point out what the hell I am doing
wrong. Thanks very much.

Best wishes to all,

Eric
