[MacPerl] getc() question

I want to be able to act on a keystroke. For example, to have atext menu
that will respond to certain key strokes. The FerlFAQ says to use
Term::, but I am willing to bet this only applies to unix terminals. Do I
need to use appleevents to accomplish this? If so, can someone help me.
I have downloaded the IAC book from devworld.apple.com. It isslow reading
though. I wish there was a tutorial out there for appleevents.

Thanks
