The recent Perl Conference (sponsored by O'Reilly & Associates) was very informative, as well as being a lot of fun. More than a thousand Perl devotees invaded the Fairmont Hotel in San Jose, listening to talks by Larry, Tom, Randal, Lincoln, et al. If you have a chance to attend the next such event, be sure to take it! You won't be disappointed... I particularly enjoyed the MacPerl BOF, which was held next to the pool. About a dozen MacPerl enthusiasts sat around, swapping war stories and esoteric Perl trivia. I was a bit disappointed, however, that there were so few of us in attendence. Only a dozen MacPerl users, out of 1000+ conference attendees? Seems a bit low, even for a largely UNIX/PC crowd. So, Vicki Brown and I started thinking about ways in which MacPerl could be promoted. A comprehensive set of web pages seemed like a good idea, augmented by pages for the mailing list, online support, a logo banner, etc. We started hacking on this, and have come up with a prototype: http://www.ptf.com/macperl Chris Nandor and Matthias Neeracher have looked everything over and given the pages their blessing, but there will certainly be some things that can use improvement. So, take a look, then send us (mp-feedback@ptf.com) your comments and suggestions. - Rich P.S. If you like the banner, please put it up on any web pages where it seems appropriate; MacPerl needs some guerilla marketing and we're the only ones who are motivated to do it!
