[MacPerl] TIMEOUT !? (Was: Embedded Control Chars)

Could I ask people for a timeout on this issue here? Not only are line ending
characters one of the Threads From Hell on this list (along with Performance
issues and Favorite Editors (which often is tied to Line Ending Characters)),
we now have reached the stage where some contributors have started getting a
bit personal in their arguments.

I'm preparing a longer position statement on line ending characters and will
post it tomorrow. In the meantime, could we start winding this discussion down
again? There must be more than 200 printable characters in MacPerl, why do we
always have to fight about two nonprintable characters? :-)
