[MacPerl] Memory Error with 5.1.4r4 ??

Hello Everyone!

I just installed version 5.1.4r4 and found the following to occur:

Turn on Perl Debugger
Run the script
Single-step through the program until the end
Quit (q) debugger (leave debugger window open)
Run the script again

Norton CrashGuard reports the following:

System Error - Bus Error - Invalid Memory Reference
OR
PowerPC Exception - Unmapped Memory Exception

I do not get this error under this same set of conditions with 5.1.3r2.
Please note that this happens not with just one particular program, but with
others as well.  You can even create a new script with a simple print
"Hello"; and the same error will occur.

Has anyone else had this same problem?  Is it possible that I have a wrong
version?
My configuration is as follows:

Power Macintosh 6500/250   48MB RAM   2.8 GB available hard drive space
MacOS 8
