There will be a compiler built into perl5.005.  It compiles to C code, I believe, so this C code could be then compiled by CodeWarrior or MPW or what-have-you.

Also, Larry Wall is now working for O'Reilly; they are paying him to develop a Perl->Java compiler which will compile to Java bytecode.
