Some of you out there have expressed the desire to learn how to use the Mac Toolbox with MacPerl. However, as you have probably noticed, the MacPerl Toolbox documentation is pretty laconic and provides few examples (although Matthias' recent examples in the ext folder are quite helpful). Each of us could spend months on his own testing all the Toolbox functions in order to find out how they work. However, it would make more sense to constitute a group of people interested in learning the Toolbox and split the work of working out each and every Toolbox function between the members of the group. Such an endeavour could be carried out in an informal manner and spread over a period of several months. We could start with the "easy" modules such as the Windows and Components modules. Each member of the group could test, attempt to document, and provide simple examples of how to use one of the functions in a particular module, and share his/her findings with others. Furthermore, some members of the group could come up with algorithms such as: - how to center a window on a screen - how to automatically resize a scrollbar in a window - how to display a PICT in a window - how to scroll a picture in a window What do you all think about my proposal?
