Actually, ResEdit does this *ONLY* if you tell it to in its prefs. Go into the Prefs & make sure that "verify on open" (or similar) is checked. It'll make file opens a bit slower, but it's worth the extra sleep ;-). Otherwise, you can go under the file menu & select verify & navigate to the file you want & it'll verify just that 1 file.
