I did run the script from within MacPerl, and it works
properly. I does what it should do.
So I hit command-L from the CGI script, and this gave me
the MPCGI Log.

This Log is attached to it. I made it a BBEdit file.
The first part of the Log shows a correct reply.

If this error occurs there is no '# Perl replied:' part in it.
So MacPerl replies nothing, is my conclusion.
Michael Schuerig noted last week that there is NO size-limitation
in AppleScript/AppleEvents.

So, is this a MacPerl limitation ?
Mathias, can you say anything about this ?
