The answer is Yes, this looks like something that MacPerl can do.  As for
more resources ... right now, the only real resources available are the
online docs for the Mac::AppleEvents module, this list, and code snippets.
Matthias has the Perl Anarachist's Cookbook which demonstrates different
MacPerl methods of using Anarchie to put and get a file.

I have several modules which use AppleEvents; the two best to look at for
ease of reading are Mac::Comm::OT_PPP and Mac::Apps::PBar (which Alan Fry
wrote with me), both available from:
