I've been wondering whether it would make sense to write a Firewall in (Mac)Perl. The Mac is pretty impervious to most network attacks, so it should be pretty secure. The code wouldn't *seem* to be very large, given all the nice Modules one could use. The main question, I think, is performance. Assuming something like a 2ci with a coule of Ethernet cards, could MacPerl keep up with, say, a 400 Kbps cable modem feed? Your comments, pointers, and suggestions are welcome...
