I believe that it is the nature of the file based DBM database. If I remember correctly, the algorithm for this causes HUGE files to be created (which are optimized out under UNIX by leveraging file "holes"), which is lots of IO, which slows stuff down. tim. ---------- From: Jon Stevens Subject: Re: [MacPerl] Got it...
