This sort of thing is what the Munger() function is for in the Mac Toolbox
(it's been there "forever"...at least since first customer release).  I
haven't looked:  is Mac::Munger present in the MacPerl release?  [Get your
fabulous glass Munger here!!:  it slices, it dices, it searches, it
replaces, it ...]  [Rhymes with "plunger".]
