-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Just to make sure the signal to noise ratio for this topic doesn't get too high... here's some noise :) I use Linux + netatalk to share my entire /home/httpd directory from my web server on my "Domestic Intranet". My LCIII doesn't have enough RAM or power to run a Web server *and* MacPerl. So I can edit my Perl scripts in MacPerl, saving them to the cgi-bin directory, open Netscape and test the form in-situ. Both my domestic Web server and the target web server run Apache under Linux. netatalk handles end-of-line conversions. In this instance, MacPerl provides me with an "integrated development environment". I have set up some "canned" test data, which I run through the script under MacPerl. If these pass, I then test it using Netscape and the web server. If *that* passes, I upload the script to the target site. All in all, MacPerl + BBEdit (lite in my case) provides a much nicer development environment than perl + vi (or ed or emacs or pico or ...).
