[MacPerl] MPW perl -P command line switch

MPW perl users -

     Does perl -P actually _do_ anything?  The -P flag "invokes the C
     pre-processor". I don't get any errors when I try this, but I don't
     get results either. Perhaps I'm using it wrong.

     (It's not that I really want to make -P work, it's that I want the book
     to be accurate).

Any assistance will be appreciated.  Has anyone ever used this?
