[MacPerl] Filemaker/MacPerl

I'm looking for examples of Filemaker calling an external MacPerl script.
(or vice-versa.)  I've been searching the web but had no luck finding
anything yet.  I'm working on a Filemaker project (it's not a CGI thing,
it's a standalone db) and FM's scripting looks to be incapable of munging
the data the way I need it to, so I was thinking of doing it with
MacPerl... but I really don't know where to start, or how to pass data
between FM and perl.  Would appreciate any advice or pointers to online
info and examples.  Thanks!
