Nah.  You can do other things.  One easy way is to click on the window that
is hanging and then do a "force quit", by hitting ctrl-opt-cmd-esc.  It
might take a few tries to get the right app; hit cancel if it is not the
one you want to quit that comes up.  Usually clicking on the title bar
right before (or while) you hit the key sequence will do it.
