[MacPerl] Toolbox help

Just got SoftWindows for the Mac (no flames please, I'm just
checking it out). Anyway, It requires me to set my monitors to
256 colors. I thought, no problem I'll just do a little AppleScript
to change my monitors setting, then launch SoftWindows...
Unfortunately, the "Monitors & Sound" control panel is apparently
not scriptable... So I'm wondering if anyone knows haow to set the
Mac monitor's to 256 colors - then back to "thousands" later - in
MacPerl? I'm assuming that I can use Mac::Processes to wait for
SoftWindows to end and reset my monitor. Surely this is a problem
that someone else has solved? I know I've got a couple of games
(that my kids play) that require the monitor to be set to various
settings - I'd probably reuse this a few times.

Lazy? Definitely! Crazy? Perhaps...Serious? Up to the point where
it's more work to do the script than it is to just open the control
panel a few dozen times...

TIA,
jay
