Yikes! This is my worst nightmare come to life!!! >MacPerl_WebServer1.0b2.7.pl >### File infected by MBDF B. > >Clay, please confirm this and fix. Everyone who downloaded it, please run >a virus program. I am checking the rest of my drive as we speak, but I >don't think it is on anywhere else, as I did this just a few weeks ago and >found no viruses. I took a fresh copy of the .sit and unstuffed it and >disinfected it, and found the virus again. The strange thing is that I have never seen behavior on my Mac like what Chris Nandor observed - either with the MacPerl_WebServer droplet or anything else I have ever run on my computer... In fact, my Mac has been particularly stable and nice to me as of late... I am about to run down to The Computer Store and dish out big bucks for some virus protection software - something I probably should have done a while ago but I am a real miser... :) I really apologize for this and seriously hope this virus has not caused any damges to anyone's stuff... I dread what this virus program will report about the status of everything on my hard drive. I'll probably have to reformat it, with my luck... And I haven't backed up for weeks. Will keep you all updated on what I find and let you all know when I have cleaned things up... This virus has nothing to do with a meglomaniacal plot of mine to crash the Internet and take over the world. Really. You have my word.
