Well, like I said, you need a self-contained test case that demonstrates
that problem.  And I don't recall enough about 5.003 to know if that
version might have problems with $& and friends.  Certainly, though, you
should not be using 5.003, as it is subject to a major security flaw
through buffer overflow.  And on Windows, my understanding is that the
standard port (not the AS port) is superior.
