He had MacPerl downloaded and tried it out a few weeks ago, but I doubt he
was running it at the time.  He normally uses telnet (NiftyTelnet I think)
to connect to a Unix box, and doesn't use MacPerl much (though that could
have changed recently, I dunno).

Randal is getting one of the 292MHz 14" G3 PowerBooks.  *drool*
