I strongly suggest you pick up a copy of either BBEdit (Pro or Lite) or
Alpha and start using that instead of the internal MacPerl editor.

MacPerl's editor is based on Apple's TextEdit and cannot handle > 32K of
text (about a thousand lines).  Rather than remove things from the script,
I recommend switching to a "real" editor (with line numbering, drag&drop,
find/replace, syntax coloring, ftp capability, "auto-run"...)
