Recall that the MacPerl editor/output window uses the Text Edit engine. This is the same editor used by TeachText and (now) SimpleText. Neither of these programs understands tabs well. TeachText was created for simple README files. If you use the BBEdit plugins, you can have your MacPerl output come back to a BBEdit window. Or, set your formatting with printf, format, and an appropriate number of spaces.
