I probably overstated my case, but what I was thinking is that some of the control strip code is called during the boot process, at which time MacPerl certainly won't be running, so it would be hard to write an entire CSM _in_ Perl. On the other hand, you could write a CSM which runs arbitrary Perl scripts, but again you wouldn't write the module in Perl itself. There might be something else possible, but it would require a considerable amount of programming effort in another language. (And if the CSM has to launch MacPerl to do its work, it kind of defeats the purpose of a control strip module--writing perl droplets to stash in the Apple Menu might be a more practical way to go.) Just a few thoughts. -- __________________________________________________________________________ Jeff Clites Online Editor http://www.MacTech.com/ online@MacTech.com MacTech Magazine __________________________________________________________________________ ***** Want to unsubscribe from this list? ***** Send mail with body "unsubscribe" to mac-perl-request@iis.ee.ethz.ch
