>Unknown. But you might check the Apple site and see. If not you might >send a message to Apple asking about it. Mark-- I'm having trouble following your responses. Please QUOTE the pertinent parts of posts you're responding to, and follow up to person-to-person msgs with person-to-person msgs. My problem with Macintosh Runtime for Java (that's MRJ, not "Mr. J" hence my confusion), is that the most current version (the one I need in order to have support for Sun's Java SDK), requires MacOS 8.1. I freely admit to being SEVERAL versions behind, but will probably have a copy of 8.1 by Sept. (not nearly soon enough). I can't even consider it (MRJ) until then. To put this back on topic, the original intent of my post was to get a feel for what MacPerl programmers think concerning the utility of MacPerl for prototyping GUIs. The continuing discussion has given me much food for thought. I think you've acheived that nicely. In fact, I'm a bit overwhelmed by it all. In context of the GUI work I'll soon be doing, the original progammer is sticking to his guns. In order to hold onto this project long enough for us to hash out a public licensing agreement (he wants us to go open source, and I agree), I'm going to bow to his wishes. This means I'm not be able to use MacPerl, except for my own purposes (which may yet be sufficient). Doing all the final code in Java means I'm forced to learn YET ANOTHER programming language (and I've only JUST gotten MacPerl under my belt). For the moment I'm going to be more deeply engrossed in DESIGNING the user interface than implementing it. Finding an appropriate metaphor is the main challange. We're automating a process which even today remains largely unautomated, something which is still done with pieces of paper and notepads. I hope to be able to be more free with details at some later point. There will, of course be an official announcement in all the appropriate places, when the sources becomes available, and everyone is welcome to pitch in and participate when the time comes. Again, sorry I can't be more open at this point. # Fungal Parataxonomy Mycology Information (Mycoinfo) # Webmaster, Staff Writer **The World's First Mycology E-Journal** # <mailto:webmaster@mycoinfo.com> <http://www.mycoinfo.com/> # "A couple of guys trying to do something great..." ***** Want to unsubscribe from this list? ***** Send mail with body "unsubscribe" to mac-perl-request@iis.ee.ethz.ch
